How we actually kill gym odour
Gym kit is the hardest laundry there is — synthetic fabric holds smell and hates heat. Getting it right takes a specific approach, and a couple of these tips will change how you wash it at home too.
It's bacteria, not sweat
Sweat is odourless — the smell is bacteria that lodge in polyester and survive an ordinary wash. Our deodorising cycle targets the bacteria directly, so the smell is gone rather than briefly masked.
No fabric softener
Softener coats moisture-wicking fabric and actually traps odour and kills breathability. We never use it on activewear — a tip worth remembering for your home machine.
Cool wash saves the stretch
Heat is what breaks down the elastane in leggings and sports bras. We wash cool and dry on low heat, which keeps the squeeze and shape true to size.
Don't leave it balled up
Damp gym kit left in a bag multiplies bacteria fast in the heat. Get it to us (or into a wash) sooner and the odour lifts far more easily.
